As part of ACA’s mission, our community outreach programs supports the arts through numerous creative events and ongoing programs which take place at ACA’s facilities and at other academic and cultural institutions throughout Central Florida. ACA’s outreach programs also provide enhanced educational opportunities in public schools, community centers, and at cultural and historic festivals and celebrations throughout the area. In addition, ACA supports the arts in an ever expanding internet presence by posting video documentation of artist interviews, lectures, and performances on ACA’s Youtube Channel, and by hosting artist blogs, and engaging in a variety of social media sites.
ACA’s community programs include a popular Children’s Summer Art Camp, Exhibitions, Community Artist in-Residence Events, Artist lectures, Images: A Festival for the Arts, Annual Poetry Slam, ACA’s Community Day, and many Volunteer Opportunities.

Community Artist in-Residence Events
ACA launched an innovative Community Artist-in-Residence Program for 2012 that focuses on bringing artist with a community based practice to New Smyrna Beach. Two four-month residencies will occur every year, and will operate out of our Harris House location. During this residency, the artist will create projects and organize programs in our community.
IMAGES: A Festival of the Arts
More than 35,000 visitors from around the state visit IMAGES: A Festival of the Arts, to enjoy artwork by the 210 juried artists from across the United States. Presented by Atlantic Center for the Arts, IMAGES takes place in New Smyrna Beach, in the beautiful outdoor setting of Riverside Park, with the Intracoastal Waterway providing a stunning backdrop, and along historic Canal Street. The high quality, salable work combined with continuous live musical entertainment, creative children's art projects, a student art exhibit, and pleasing cuisine provides a culturally rich experience that communicates the ACA stamp of artistic excellence.
Occasionally, ACA organizes adult courses for those who wish to hone their skills or try a new artistic medium. No experience is necessary. Keep an eye out on the home page of our web site, and on the Calendar of Events to learn about these programs.
